New strategies in the fight against cybercrime: an open lecture within the framework of the project “EU Experience on the Protection of Personal Data in Cyberspace”

Recently, a significant event took place within the framework of the 2023-2026 educational project titled EUEPPDC – 101125350 – ERASMUS-JMO-2023-MODULE, which focuses on studying the EU’s experience in protecting personal data in cyberspace under the Erasmus+ programme, specifically the Jean Monnet Module. The main theme of the event was an open lecture titled “Cybercrime: The Challenge of Protecting Personal Data in the Modern World.”The project curator, Olga Bondarenko, delved deeply into the issue of personal data protection on the Internet, placing particular emphasis on aspects of their vulnerability. She unveiled key challenges and discussed contemporary methods to safeguard information from unauthorised access.Also present at the event was the guest expert, practicing solicitor Marina Kysloshchaeva, who shared practical aspects of her work. She described real-life situations faced by professionals in protecting client data in cyberspace and offered valuable advice on ensuring cybersecurity.The lecture sparked lively discussion among the participants, highlighting the relevance of personal data protection in today’s era of information transparency.

An interesting lecture by Professor Katrin Nyman-Metcalfe of the Tallinn University of Technology’s Law Department titled “AI and Copyright” took place.

On 6 May 2024, the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure at the Intellectual Property programme hosted an engaging online lecture on the topic of “AI and Copyright”. The lecture was delivered by Professor Katrin Nyman-Metcalfe, a leading expert in the field of law and technology from the Law Department of Tallinn University of Technology.

Successful completion of the Spring School as part of the Jean Monnet project

Ruslana DEGTYAR, teacher-intern of the department, successfully graduated from the Spring School “European technology transfer for Ukrainian universities” (European technology transfer for Ukrainian universities, UniTECH). The event was held within the framework of the Jean Monnet project “European technology transfer for Ukrainian universities” UniTECH under the JEAN-MONNET CHAIRS program.

Online lecture on the development of a sustainable society for students of the educational program “Intellectual property”

We are pleased to announce that a fascinating lecture on the topic “The importance of developing a sustainable society” was held as part of virtual mobility for the students of the intellectual property educational program. Doctor of Science, Director of the BUP Center in Finland, Professor Cecilia Lundberg from Åbo Akademi University was the lecturer.
The lecture revealed critical aspects of sustainable development, offering valuable insights into its importance in the field of intellectual property. The students had a unique opportunity to study the experience of Dr. S. Lundberg and explore the intersection of sustainability principles with intellectual property rights.
This event was part of our ongoing efforts to improve the learning process and provide students with diverse perspectives on key topics in their field.

“Impact of intellectual property on green innovation: Trainee teacher Yevgenia Lytvynenko explores key strategies at Ukrainian IP Week 2024”

On 22 April 2024, Yevgeniya Lytvynenko, a teaching intern from the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure, attended an event as part of the Ukrainian Intellectual Property Week 2024 (IP WEEK 2024). The event, “Talking about my idea”, was organized by the National IP & Innovations Hub and TISK in Ukraine, focusing on “Sustainable Development, Intellectual Property, and a ‘Green’ Future”. Participants learned how intellectual property influences the implementation of innovative and creative solutions that play a key role in shaping a green future.

A new look at criminal law: Natalya Shapovalova held a lecture for students of the academic and research institute of law

On 5th April, Natalya Shapovalova, a detective from the Organisational and Methodological Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv, delivered an insightful lecture to students of the Academic and Research Institute of Law at Sumy State University. Kyiv, 3rd April 2024 – Lecturer-trainee Yevheniia Vasylivna Lytvynenko took an active part in a workshop organised to support the TISC network members. The workshop focused on a crucial topic: “Q&A: WIPO’s Specialised Patent Databases, a list of main educational materials for databases, WIPO patent landscapes, and guidelines for their development.”

Запрошуємо до участі в новаторському онлайн-курсі “Досвід ЄС щодо захисту персональних даних в кіберпросторі”, що стартує в рамках проекту Модуля Жана Моне програми Erasmus+. Курс, розрахований на період 2023-2026 роки, ставить за мету надання глибоких знань і розвиток навичок у сфері захисту персональних даних відповідно до європейських стандартів.

Основною місією курсу є підготовка фахівців, здатних ефективно працювати з персональними даними, розуміючи їх значення і знайомі з правовими аспектами їх обробки. Учасники курсу дізнаються про ключові принципи захисту персональних даних, які закладені в європейському законодавстві, зокрема, в Загальному регламенті з захисту даних (GDPR).

Програма курсу передбачає детальний розгляд європейських нормативних актів, аналіз кіберзагроз та стратегій їх усунення, вивчення випадків порушення захисту даних та їх вплив на законодавство, а також оцінку діяльності наглядових органів ЄС. Окрема увага буде приділена впливу глобальних викликів та технологічних інновацій на сферу захисту персональних даних.

Цей курс є відкритим для всіх зацікавлених осіб, включаючи студентів, викладачів, юристів та представників громадських організацій, які бажають поглибити свої знання в області кібербезпеки та захисту даних. Це унікальна можливість для професіоналів і зацікавлених осіб ознайомитись з передовим досвідом ЄС, збагатити свій професійний досвід та підвищити рівень захисту персональних даних у своїй діяльності.

Lecturer-intern of the Criminal Law and Procedure Department, Yevheniia Lytvynenko, participated in a webinar on the topic of “Intellectual Property: How to Protect Your Rights?” on 6 March 2024. The event was dedicated to general issues concerning intellectual property law, copyright, and specifically focused on the protection and enforcement of copyright.
