On February 20, 2025, the competition-defense of research papers by students—members of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine—took place. Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure, Kateryna Yanishchevska, served as a jury member in the Law section.
On February 13, 2025, the Head of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure, Olha Maletova, took part in a program session dedicated to developing a strategy for fostering integrity in higher education. The event was hosted at the Integrity Hub of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) and brought together academics, educators, and representatives of state institutions.
On January 31, the Department of Criminal Law Disciplines and Judiciary at the Academic and Research Institute of Law hosted a scientific and practical workshop titled “Ensuring the Confidentiality of Personal Data in Cyberspace: Legal and Technical Challenges.” The event was organized as part of the ERASMUS-JMO-2023-MODULE – ERASMUS2027 – 101125350 – “EUEPPDC”: EU Experience in Personal Data Protection in Cyberspace, within the framework of the Jean Monnet Module of the Erasmus+ program.
The Department of Criminal Law and Justice hosted a solemn diploma award ceremony for graduates of the “Intellectual Property” educational program in the part-time study format.
On 22 January 2025, Associate Professor of the Department of Law, Kateryna Yanishevska, participated as a jury member in the third regional stage of the All-Ukrainian Student Law Olympiad.
📅 On 23 January 2025, a formal ceremony was held to award diplomas to the graduates of the “Intellectual Property” Master’s programme of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure.
💬 During the event, Kateryna Yanyshevska, a member of the working project group, delivered a congratulatory speech. She emphasised the importance of professional knowledge in the field of intellectual property law for modern society and wished the graduates:

At Sumy State University, the competition “Best Lecturer Through the Eyes of Students” has concluded. The competition was conducted in accordance with the Regulations on Student Evaluation of the Quality of Educational Activities. It was based on semester surveys of full-time students, who assessed the quality of educational activities during their study of academic disciplines.
Sumy State University traditionally honors the best academic and teaching staff who make significant contributions to the development of education, science, and the professional training of students. Based on the results of the “Best Academic and Teaching Staff of SumDU” contest for the 2023-2024 academic year, representatives of the Department of Criminal Law Disciplines and Procedure have been recognized as laureates.
Associate Professors of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure at SumDU, Marina Utkina, Mykhailo Dumchykov, and postgraduate student Olena Tymoshenko, have joined the authorship team of the project “The Integration Paradigm of Digital Transformation in the Financial Crime Counteraction System: A Synergistic Approach to Prevention and Combat”, which has secured state funding.
Elizaveta Hovorun, a student of the educational program “Intellectual Property” at the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure, participated in the professional event IT LAW TALKS, dedicated to pressing issues of legal regulation in the field of information technology.
