n April 10, 2025, Olha Maletova, Head of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure at the Educational and Research Institute of Law, Sumy State University, took part in a regional seminar titled “The Current State of the Quality Assurance System in Higher Education in Ukraine: Challenges and Prospects”, organized by the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance (NAQA).
On March 14, 2025, Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure, Maryna Utkina, took part in the international academic seminar Oxford Ukraine Hub entitled “State Consolidation: Challenges and Opportunities for Ukraine’s Post-War Reconstruction,” held at St Antony’s College, University of Oxford (United Kingdom).
On April 9, 2025, students of the Law Enforcement Activity educational program had the opportunity to attend an open lecture entitled “Peculiarities of Investigating War Crimes: Practical Experience for Future Law Enforcement Officers”, delivered by representatives of the investigative unit of the Security Service of Ukraine in Sumy Region.
On 3 April 2025, the Head of the KPDS Department, Olha Maletova, took part in the event “IP Court in Ukraine: The Last Chapter or a New Beginning?” organised by the Ukrainian Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Committee in collaboration with the Ukrainian National Office of Intellectual Property and Innovations. The event was held in Kyiv in a hybrid format (offline and online), bringing together leading experts in the field of intellectual property.
A series of public speaking training sessions was held at the Educational and Research Institute of Law, conducted by coach Yanina Polyakova. Participants mastered self-presentation techniques, learned to control their voice, improved their diction, and acquired the fundamentals of effective communication.
Special attention was given to acting skills and the development of emotional intelligence. During practical exercises, students practiced expressing emotions, improvisation techniques, and strategies for handling challenging situations.
The training sessions provided an excellent opportunity to enhance both professional and communication skills. Participants not only gained valuable knowledge but also left with positive impressions and inspiration for further development.
✨ This year’s Open Day, held in an expo-style format, provided future students with a unique opportunity to explore the academic programs of the Educational and Research Institute of Law.
On February 27, a lecture on mine safety was held at the Educational and Research Institute of Law, conducted by experts from “Demining Solutions”, a national operator of Ukraine in the field of demining. The event aimed to raise awareness among students of the “Law Enforcement” specialty about mine threats and protective measures for civilians in wartime conditions.
Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure, Kateryna Yanishchevska, and Head of the Department, Olha Maletova, participated in the pre-selection and training camp in law, organized as part of the preparation of students for the national stage of the All-Ukrainian Law Olympiad.
On February 20, 2025, the competition-defense of research papers by students—members of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine—took place. Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure, Kateryna Yanishchevska, served as a jury member in the Law section.
On February 13, 2025, the Head of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure, Olha Maletova, took part in a program session dedicated to developing a strategy for fostering integrity in higher education. The event was hosted at the Integrity Hub of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) and brought together academics, educators, and representatives of state institutions.
