On October 28, 2025, the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure of the Academic and Research Institute of Law at Sumy State University held an open lecture entitled “IP Office and IP Mediation: How to Turn Conflict into a Solution?”.
The event brought together students of the “Intellectual Property” educational program, who had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of practical mechanisms for resolving disputes in the field of intellectual property.
👩🏫 The lecture was delivered by Olena Tymoshenko — a professional at the Center for Mediation and Conciliation of the Ukrainian National Office for Intellectual Property and Innovations (UKRNOIVI). She shared her practical experience and demonstrated how mediation tools can effectively transform conflicts between parties into mutually beneficial solutions. The discussion focused on the role of IP offices in facilitating dialogue among intellectual property stakeholders and on the key stages of the mediation process in this domain.
The event was held within the framework of the academic discipline “Mediation in the Field of Intellectual Property”, aimed at developing students’ practical competencies in alternative dispute resolution.
During the lecture, participants analyzed real case studies from the Center’s practice, discussed common negotiation mistakes, and evaluated the potential of peaceful settlement as a tool for enhancing the protection of intellectual property rights.
💻 The lecture took place online via Zoom, enabling students from various study groups to participate.
Those who completed the registration process received personalized certificates confirming their participation.
🎓 The organizers emphasized that such events play an important role in the professional training of future specialists in the field of intellectual property, as they contribute to the development of communication, analytical, and legal skills essential for effective performance in the modern legal environment.
