On 15 April 2026, Mykhailo Dumchykov, Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Law Disciplines at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law of Sumy State University, delivered an open lecture entitled “Cybercrime-as-a-Service: A New Economy of Crime.”
During the lecture, current approaches to understanding the transformation of cybercrime in the context of digitalisation were explored, with particular focus on the phenomenon of Cybercrime-as-a-Service as a new model of organising criminal activity. Special attention was given to the functioning of shadow online markets, the distribution of criminal roles among participants in cybercriminal schemes, and the modern challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in countering such activities.
The event attracted considerable interest and brought together a wide audience, including students from all institutes and faculties of Sumy State University, representatives of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs, as well as school pupils from the cities of Bilopillia and Trostianets.
Such open lectures contribute to the promotion of legal knowledge, the development of legal awareness among young people, and increased understanding of contemporary cybersecurity threats. Moreover, these events serve as an important element of the career guidance activities of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law, enabling prospective applicants to become better acquainted with current trends in legal education.
