Sumy State University celebrated Science Day with a “Scientific Picnic,” where scientists, students, and visitors gathered to discuss cutting-edge research and educational initiatives.
A highlight of the event was a lecture by senior lecturer Mykhailo Dumchykov on “On Guard for Safety: Personal Data and Modern Cybercrimes.” During his speech, he introduced the educational project 2023-2026 – EUEPPDC – 101125350 – ERASMUS-JMO-2023-MODULE, which focuses on the European Union’s experience in protecting personal data in cyberspace under the Erasmus+ programme in the Jean Monnet Module direction.
Professor Dumchykov thoroughly addressed the topic of personal data, emphasising the main cyber threats such as phishing, identity fraud, and malware. These threats pose a significant risk to the leakage of personal data, making knowledge about them extremely important.
At the end of the presentation, practical advice on protecting personal data was offered, followed by an active discussion session where participants engaged with numerous questions and shared their thoughts and experiences.
The event proved to be successful and productive, enhancing awareness and building competencies in cybersecurity among participants.
