The Psychological Service of SumDU continues to actively collaborate with first-year students from various faculties and institutes of the university, helping them adapt to the new learning environment and address psychological concerns. The meetings are conducted in a hybrid format, allowing more students to participate in dialogue and discussions.

On October 15, a curatorial session was held for first-year students of the 262 “Law Enforcement” specialty at the Academic and Research Institute of Law. Practical psychologists from the Psychological Service of SumDU, P. I. Sakhno and Y. M. Solomakha, conducted a meeting for group PO-41, curated by K. D. Yanishevska. The primary goal of this session was to provide psychological support to students at the beginning of their journey in the law enforcement field and to help them understand the importance of their own emotional well-being.

An informational segment was prepared for the first-year students, which included explanations regarding the specifics of the Psychological Service’s work, as well as the differences between consulting a psychologist, a psychotherapist, and a psychiatrist. This helped the students better understand whom to turn to in various situations related to psychological health.

The second part of the curatorial session focused on developing skills for self-awareness and self-improvement, which are particularly important for future law enforcement professionals. The psychologists conducted a series of exercises aimed at fostering group cohesion, which contributed to building a positive atmosphere and a team spirit among the students. This also helped the first-year students gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their peers, an essential step towards building trust and mutual understanding within the group.

Holding such sessions for students in the “Law Enforcement” specialty is extremely important, as this profession requires not only theoretical knowledge and physical fitness but also a high level of psychological resilience and the ability to work as part of a team. Therefore, psychological support at the beginning of their studies is a crucial aspect of the successful adaptation of students to their chosen profession.
