Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Law Disciplines and Judiciary, Kateryna Yanishevska, held an open lecture on the topic “Legal Regulation of Family Relations with a Foreign Element” for 3rd-year students.

The lecture contributed to the development of students’ skills in analyzing international legal acts, correctly interpreting conflict-of-law rules, and solving practical legal cases in the field of international family law.

During the class, students learned about the key features of concluding and dissolving marriages with foreigners, as well as the procedure for the legalization and recognition of foreign marriage documents in Ukraine. Special attention was paid to the specifics of resolving disputes regarding the determination of children’s place of residence and their upbringing in cases where the parents are citizens of different states.

The event was held in an interactive format: students asked questions about current judicial practice in cases of international child abduction, the nuances of dividing joint marital property located abroad, and effective mechanisms for collecting alimony from persons residing outside the jurisdiction of Ukraine.
