On February 17, representatives of the Student Directorate — students of the “Law Enforcement Activity” educational program of the Department of Criminal Law Disciplines and Procedure at the Educational and Research Institute of Law of Sumy State University — held a career guidance event for 11th-grade students of Sumy Secondary School No. 9.
During the meeting, the students provided detailed information about the specifics of studying under the “Law Enforcement Activity” educational program, emphasizing the combination of solid theoretical training with practice-oriented classes, the development of analytical skills, and the formation of professional competencies in criminal law, criminal procedure, and forensics. The school students learned about the training of future law enforcement officers, internship opportunities, and potential career prospects.
The event featured an interactive format that allowed participants to experience the role of future professionals.
🔎 Detective Quest
Within the framework of the quest, students worked with a simulated case scenario, analyzed circumstances, compared facts, and developed their own versions of events. This format fostered logical thinking, attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to make well-reasoned decisions — key skills for a future detective or investigator.
🧬 Fingerprint Examination Activity
Particular interest was generated by the practical session on fingerprint collection and comparison. Participants had the opportunity to feel like forensic experts, understand the significance of evidentiary information, and realize the importance of precision and professionalism in law enforcement work.
The event was held in an atmosphere of active dialogue and genuine engagement. Such initiatives of the Department contribute to informed career choices and demonstrate the practical orientation of the “Law Enforcement Activity” educational program.
