From February 2 to February 6, 2026, the competitions of the participants of the second (final) stage of the first round of the All-Ukrainian “Teacher of the Year – 2026” Competition took place.
Kateryna Yanishevska, Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure at Sumy State University, PhD in Law, served as the Head of the Jury in the “Civic Education” nomination.
The contestants took part in several competitive tasks, including “Lesson,” which assessed the level of pedagogical mastery; “Master Class,” aimed at demonstrating the contestants’ ability to present their own teaching experience; and “Project,” which evaluated their skills in organizing students’ research and inquiry-based activities.
Based on the results of the competitive trials, the winner in the “Civic Education” nomination was Alona Borysivna Shevchenko, a teacher at Lebedyn Secondary School I–III Degrees No. 7 of the Lebedyn City Council, Sumy Region. She will represent the region at the next stage of the competition.
