On April 29, 2025, the Educational and Research Institute of Law at Sumy State University hosted the online event “Career Day,” with first-year master’s students of the 081 “Intellectual Property” program taking center stage.
The event served as an important platform for acquainting students with current opportunities for professional development amid the transformation of the legal labor market. Particular emphasis was placed on designing individual career trajectories and identifying effective strategies for launching careers in the field of intellectual property protection and innovation management.
Of particular interest to participants was the presentation delivered by the Ukrainian National Office for Intellectual Property and Innovations (UKRNOIVI) — a strategic partner in ensuring legal protection of intellectual property rights and fostering an innovation-friendly environment in Ukraine. The organization’s representatives provided comprehensive insights into:
-
internship programs for young professionals;
-
participation in competitions and professional initiatives;
-
career prospects within the field of intellectual property;
-
the key competencies required of future IP specialists.
Other distinguished participants included:
-
the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Sumy Region, which presented career prospects in the field of law enforcement;
-
the Eastern Interregional Center for Free Legal Aid, which outlined opportunities for engaging young lawyers in initiatives aimed at ensuring access to justice for vulnerable groups.
Students were able to engage directly with experts, ask questions, receive tailored advice, and begin forming professional connections.
“Career Day” confirmed students’ strong interest in practice-oriented learning and underscored the importance of early engagement with potential employers. For master’s students in the Intellectual Property program, such events are instrumental in forming a conscious and strategic approach to professional development within one of the most dynamic and forward-looking areas of contemporary law.
