On October 21, 2024, an open online lecture was held for students of the “Intellectual Property” educational program, focusing on the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights in the IT sector. The lecture was organized by the Department of Criminal Law Disciplines and Litigation, featuring leading specialists from the IP Office who shared their practical experience in this field.
The first speaker was Yuliana Zukh-Kiprianova, an innovation professional from the Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISC) Network Development Division of the IP Office’s Innovation Development Department. She provided a detailed overview of the specifics of intellectual property rights protection in the IT sector. Yuliana focused on key issues in protecting software, digital products, and IT innovations, emphasizing the importance of intellectual property rights compliance in technology development and commercialization. In particular, she presented examples of patent protection and copyright applications for innovative programming solutions.
The second part of the lecture was delivered by Kateryna Sadilova-Milashevska, also an innovation professional from the IP Office, who presented on “Open Source Licenses + EULA”. Kateryna provided students with a comprehensive explanation of how Open Source Licenses and End User License Agreements (EULA) function in software development. Students found particularly valuable her insights into the application of these agreements in commercial projects where intellectual property protection is crucial.
This lecture marked a significant step in advancing students’ knowledge of intellectual property in the IT sphere, enhancing their understanding of the legal aspects of protecting software and other innovative solutions.
