Summer School “Protection of personal data and cyber security: European experience in conditions of military conflict”Launched

Today, at the Academic and Research Institute of Law of Sumy State University, the Summer School “Personal Data Protection and Cybersecurity: European Experience in the Context of Military Conflict” was officially launched. This event is held as part of the educational project under the Jean Monnet direction within the framework of the EU Erasmus program 101125350 – EUEPPDC – ERASMUS-JMO-2023-MODULE “EU Experience in Data Protection in Cyberspace.”

The opening of the Summer School brought together a wide range of participants, including students, lecturers, and practitioners from various educational institutions across Ukraine. In total, more than 80 people attended the event, demonstrating a high level of interest in cybersecurity and personal data protection topics.

The first lecture-intensive was conducted by a respected speaker – Doctor of Law, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Criminal Law Disciplines and Justice at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law of Sumy State University. Her lecture was devoted to the topic “Basics of Personal Data Protection: EU Experience and Adaptation in Ukraine.” During her presentation, she addressed the main approaches to understanding digital identity, including:

  • The concept and definition of digital identity.
  • Key provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
  • Comparative analysis of digital identity in the EU and Ukraine.

Special attention was paid to the adaptation of European experience in the face of modern challenges, particularly the military conflict affecting Ukraine. This issue sparked an active discussion among the participants, underscoring its relevance and importance for the development of the national personal data protection system.

The Summer School will continue throughout the week, during which participants will have the opportunity to attend additional lectures and participate in practical sessions aimed at deepening their knowledge in the field of cybersecurity and personal data protection. The school will conclude with a final conference where participants can share their impressions and achievements.

The organizers expressed their gratitude to all participants for their active involvement and emphasized the importance of such events for raising awareness and professional training in the field of personal data protection and cybersecurity.
