At the Department the Legal clinic of Sumy State University works which is headed by a practicing lawyer Chernadchuk A.V.(Candidate of Legal Sciences, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Justice and International Law). Legal clinic has repeatedly been recognized among the best legal clinics in the city, has many recommendations and awards at various levels. Legal clinic is the base for practical training and training internship of students of senior courses of the specialty “Law”. The basis of its functioning is the combination of interests of citizens in need of legal assistance and unable to pay a lawyer, and students interested in obtaining practical skills contributing to their future professional development.
The order of service:
Services are provided free of charge by oral and written advice by the students – consultants under the guidance of lecturers of the Faculty of Law of Sumy State University for socially vulnerable categories of the population, who are not able to pay for legal services.
The provision of legal advice in civil, family, labour, housing law, social security law; in the sphere of human rightsprotection, carrying out activities on legal education of the population.
Activities:
During the existence there were conducted a large number of legal academic events by students-consultants, it was taken part in national and international scientificand practical conferences, Olympiads and contests. Every month it ia organized lectures on legal issues in schools of Sumy and Sumy region.
The aim of establishment of the Legal clinic of Sumy State University is:
1) increasing the level of practical knowledge, abilities and skills of students of the Faculty of Law
2) to ensure access of representatives of vulnerable groups of society to legal aid;
3) formation of legal culture of citizens;
4) preparation and education of students in the spirit of compliance and respect for the rule of law, justice and human dignity;
5) expansion of cooperation of Sumy State University with other higher education institutions conducting preparation of specialists-lawyers with judicial and law enforcement authorities, judicial bodies, state authorities and local self-government, with other agencies and organizations;
6) the implementation in educational process of elements of practical training of law students in legal services.
